Well, this has been a very interesting time for us. God has really been dealing with us in different ways and taking us on a journey, which isn't always exactly enjoyable - but is certainly doing us good!
We had been on a plateau and it's time to get climbing again. A plateau is a comfortable place to be, it's even land with no difficult areas to climb. Different situations and circumstances in our lives had caused us just to stay in a comfort zone. God is totally awesome and allowed us the rest we needed within that time but then He decided enough was enough and it was time to get the marching boots on again. Marching boots aren't comfortable, they pinch... and hurt... and rub, but as you continue to put them on and keep going over the rough terrain, the rocky places - sometimes nice grassy patches - they get worn in and become moulded to you.
This is the year of New Beginnings and we are being taken on a new journey and on this journey we'll discover many things that are difficult, and just as climbers often depend on someone else to hold the rope, to give them a hand, we'll no doubt be looking to each other for support but most of all clinging on to our Father God... but that's the best place to be! A climber needs to be attached to the rock!
I wrote the following statement years ago but God has been reminding me of it a lot recently and I feel it is something we all need to take on board at this time, this is what I wrote 'I believe the Lord is mustering His armies and since Praise is a mighty and powerful weapon, He wants to train us to use it effectively.'
Praise is so powerful... and we were created to Praise! It's so sad that we have in the main lost sight of the power of praise. I have to confess that we have not been using it as we should either. Before, if we were in a difficult place, then Walter would get the guitar out and we would have a time of praise, immediately our spirits were lifted, we were strengthened and encouraged. The devil has robbed us of that but we are now drawing a line and saying "no more!"
In fact, there are a lot of areas we are drawing a line and saying "no more" on. I really believe this is a time to re-evaluate ourselves, being honest in that re-evaluation, and just realising the ground the devil has stolen from us over the years. Just chipping away a wee bit here and a wee bit there! In fact, we play a song on the radio called 'Chippin' Away' and that is maybe what made me start to look at my own life. The devil is so sly he doesn’t always come and take the feet from you, he just takes a chip at a time hoping that you don't notice! And many times we don't - until we actually stop and take stock. A year of new beginnings, a new start, a new commitment, a new revelation, new goals and a renewed vision - a new 'whatever it takes' to move us into what God has planned for each and every one of us!... If we take the opportunity!
